The Taj Mahal at dawn, Agra
I had just stayed late from dusk until closing at the Taj Mahal
waiting for the moon. I was quite taken by the different moods of the
Taj. Getting up at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise, I joined a
few other early risers to share this peaceful moment. The dome of the
Taj was misty grey, finally brightening up to a pearly white.
Market in Jodhpur
The city of Jodhpur is a jumble of medieval houses and a maze of
winding paths. In the center of all this sits the fortress palace
perched on top of a central mount dominating the skyline.
Muslim girl outside Jaisalmer
From Jaisalmer, I took a three day camel trek through the Thar
desert. We stopped at a small Muslim village and visited some of the
surprisingly immaculate homes.
My camel driver and I on camel trek, Jaisalmer
I'm surprised that camels have a reputation for being mean; mine
was friendly and he seemed to sport a little smile. Riding takes a
bit getting used to though; your bottom gets really sore by the end
of the day and on some of the rougher terrain you're holding onto the
saddle for dear life to keep from slipping off.
School girls leaving for home, Udaipur
I spent most of the day touring the lakeside palace in Udaipur.
Just as I was leaving the palace, I saw this group of schoolgirls
leaving for home.
