Team Quiz Bowl or Digital Professor for Keypads May Lock-up (crash) Your Computer
This section does not apply to users of Windows 95. However, if you use Windows for Workgroups version 3.11 with our DP for Keypads software, you may experience the following problem:
This problem is dueto an old copy of the SERIAL.386 in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory which is not compatible with the new serial chip used in your new computer. To fix this problem, you must install the SERIAL.386 file provided with this DP for Keypads Demo.
1. Quit Windows for Workgroups.
2. Make a backup copy of the currently installed SERIAL.386 file by typing the following at the MS-DOS command prompt and then pressing ENTER
ren <drive>:<path>\serial.386 serial.old
where <drive>:<path> is the location of your Windows SYSTEM subdirectory.
For example, if your Windows directory is called WINDOWS and is on drive C, type the following at the MS-DOS command prompt and then press ENTER:
ren c:\windows\system\serial.386 serial.old
3. Go into the C:\ASPDEMO subdirectory or the directory where you installed the demo software. The SERIAL.386 file should be in this directory.
4. To copy the file to the Windows SYSTEM subdirectory, type the following at the MS-DOS command prompt and then press ENTER
copy <drive>:\ASPDEMO\SERIAL.386 <destination>
where <drive> is the hard disk drive containing the ASPDEMO software and <destination> is the drive and directory of your Windows SYSTEM subdirectory. For example, if you installed the DP for Keypads demo to your "C" drive(the default location), you would type the following at the MS-DOS command prompt and then press ENTER:
copy C:\ASPDEMO\SERIAL.386 c:\windows\system
